Do you suffer from PMS?

Some Pre-Menstrual Syndrome symptoms include:

  • Mood swings which get worse before your period.
  • Craving sweets, ice cream, breads and especially chocolate before your period.
  • Cycling acne, feeling bloated and gaining 4 to 6 pounds in fluid weight.
  • Feeling anxious, depressed, agitated and generally out of balance.
  • Breast tenderness, heavy periods, constipation or diarrhea before your period.

PMS can occur in your early teens and as late as your 40’s. PMS is most often caused by not eating enough of the good fats in your diet. The good fats are the building for your hormones. These are the fats found in fish, raw nuts, raw seeds, Tofu, olive oil, etc.

Women unfortunately have been taught very incorrectly that low fat diets are good; they are really bad for hormone balance. You need to eat the good fats to make hormones. Chocolate is good for you but eat the right kind as your body needs magnesium to make hormones. The 85% coco-butter dark chocolate will supply these nutrients and cut your cravings. Give it a try.

Many of the symptoms before your period related to PMS are often caused by a low Progesterone level so you might want to consider running a saliva hormone test to determine this. The saliva hormone test is usually collected over the course of 30 days at specific intervals.

Remember that pre-menopause starts in your mid-thirties; so start to pay attention to hormonal shifts. Learn to eat those foods that naturally balance your hormones.
